"Sylvia", a nestling Long-eared
Owl, was rescued from the Nipawin area of Saskachewan in 2006.
She was brought to the Western College of Veterinary Medicine who's
staff contacted The Owl Foundation. Upon
admission, Sylvia was placed with Mork and Mindy, an unreleaseable
pair of permanent residents who were sitting on eggs. Mindy immediately
took on her new role as Mother and raised Sylvia until she was old
enough to "disperse" up to our Long-eared release training
unit. Here she began learning how to hunt live prey in preparation
for release to the wild.
